Robert Bassili

– Robert, tell about yourself, your childhood and education, please?
– I was born in Sydney, Australia. I went to high school and then entered university but did not finish it. My childhood basically consisted of going to school, studying and playing sports.
– How did you become an entrepreneur?
– Entrepreneurship came into my life when I was 25. Before that I was working in the finance and banking industry. That’s why it is not something that was planned.
– You`ve achieved amazing results in business. What made it possible?
– Because I focuse a lot on both external and internal relationships with people and I understand who I am, and I am doing what I am great at, not necessarily what I like to do.
– You worked at the Eaton Vance Ltd as a strategy director. The company`s assets have grown $500 000 to $40 million dollars, since you started working there 5 years ago. How did you manage to achieve that?
– Please note, it refers to Eaton Vance, but it should be streetwise financial group. .. this was rapid growth over 5 years. Though I do not believe in luck, I would say, the time was right for such an explosive growth for the industries I was involved in, but again, building relationships and putting the right team together was what we did best then.
– Where does your Success start from?
– Success starts with understanding your goals and things at which you are great… it’s the ultimate test of honesty.. honesty with yourself and the guarantee that you will never give up.
– You arean investor . What are the most attractive kinds of projects for investment in Ukraine for your mind?
– Investing into the undervalued business that has the potential to be a market leader is the best form of investment. Money is made on how to buy a company not on how to sell it.
– Which realized project is your favorite one?
– My favourite project realised in Ukraine was Royal Kyiv Golf Club.
– What can you advise o businessmen who want to achieve the level of a millionaire?
– Focus on building the right team, build relationships with people, concentrate more on execution of project rather than the idea and never give up.
– What do you think are the bestplaces for education? How to become a good specialist?
– There is a difference between working for someone as a specialist and being an entrepreneur. Of course, the best place for training of the specialist is at work, because real experience is the best form of education. But I always advise the specialists to attend different business trainings and educational seminars to keep up with the latest tendencies in technology and education.
– What are your top 5 tips for Top managers who have just started their career?
– Build relationships, understand who you are, be able to do what you don’t want to do, be flexible and never give up.

– How do you spend your free time?
– Travelling, going to f1 events and discovering history.
– What are yourfavourite books? Can you share?
– I like reading autobiographies of other people, because it’s quite interesting to understand the stories of their lives. But one of the greatest books I have ever read is “Principles” by Ray Dalio.
-Have you got any projects in priority
for investment?

– There is no specific segment that I’m focused on, but I would say, anything in the energy, bio technology or artificial intelligence would get my attention.
– Robert, what is happiness for you?
– Happiness is when you understand what you are great at and you are able to perform your greatness and push yourself every day to unlock your potential.
– Would you like to get any new experience ?If yes, which one?
– Everyday there brings new experience, new problems, new rewards, new people around. The world is very dynamic, so every day is a new experience and new lessons.
– Let’s finish the interview with a question concerning start-ups. As far as I know, you have a special attitude to them, why do you avoid start-ups?
– Start-ups are necessary in the economic development of countries. Investors and investment funds have very specific ways of investing. Since my investing is known as activist investing, in this form of investing start-up is not the right target for investing.

Model Christina Krivopustova

– Kristina, tell usabouty our self. You are a model. What’syourfood ration? What beauty procedures you absolutely have to do?
– My ration is very balanced. In a day I eat a lot of vegetables, beans, drink water and try to eat as healthy as possible. The number one procedure is self-care. I mean sport, day regimenand balanced ration, of course. No procedure can give your body tonus, perfectly smooth skin and shiny hair if you don’t look after yourself at all sides. Sure, procedures are important, too, but not as important as what I’ve just mentioned.
– What are your plans for the future?
– To unleash my potential: to try different activities, to find myself. The most important thing to keep in mind is to be at peace with yourself and your body. I’d like to open a healthy food restaurant, so we would have just as much healthy food as we have fast-food.

– Why go for a healthy food restaurant?
– There was a time when I could spend 2-3 hours just to choose a food place. People that don’t care about their health usually visit the first restaurant they see. I can’t allow myself that. It’s important to remember – you are what you eat.
– Do you think it’s important how your Instagram profile looks? If so, why?
– I care how my Instagram profile looks like! Do we need to keep nice content? I think it depends on a person registered on this social media. If it’s the page for a small group of friends, it doesn’t really matter what content you post, how well you compile photos together, amount of likes and subscribers. In my case, it’s some sort of portfolio of my works, achievements. So I am very meticulous with how I support my account.
– What do you see as a success? How do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
– One of my goals is to find something I love doing. I’m sure when I find it, I will enjoy it and it will bring me great success. You’re most successful at what you love doing. Every day I try to learn something new, set goals and spend time with purpose. In 5-10 I’ll become my personal beauty standard. Also, I’ll be a settled person and a business-lady.

– What a girl with own business should be like? What qualities does she need to possess?
– Successful people have a lot of qualities; I’ll try to make out the most important ones: commitment, confidence, determination, responsibility, honesty, open mind to critique and creativity. Amother quality I’d like to mention is foresight but few people have it, as it has much to do with both experience and the talent for feeling the changes in the world. It’s hard to build a world-wide corporation with only one-day results in mind. You have to have a mind and a will to operate high profits, invest them in business, instead of chasing a luxurious life. I have nothing against expensive cars and goods that bring some sort of satisfaction, but for me, it’s more important to keep away from the temptations and the desire to multiply them at the start of the career.
– Do you like traveling? What’s your favorite city and why?
– Traveling means a lot to me. Pushing the boundaries, learning something new, communication, discovering your new self, all this can be obtained only by visiting new countries. Travels unveil new worldviews, incept new ideas. They even charge you with new strength!
– Kristina, what inspires you?
– Firstofall, newgoals. I enjoy the most and inspired by reaching the goals. And, perhaps, my surrounding. Communication with interesting people is also very inspiring.
– What will save our world? What each of us should do to make this planet better?
– Care for each other will save this world. We all should learn to do it sincerely and selflessly. I’m sure, the world’s salvation is peace. Butmankindis stilllearningthisrathersimpleskill.

Founder of the brand Krisstel – Svetlana Shelefost visiting gloss editorial TOPCITY magazine

– Svitlana, tell us, what’s the origin of Krisstel brand, what model started it all?
– Since I was a kid I loved to embroider and create different looks. Back then, when I was a kid, I knew what I will become. But life had different plans, so I postponed this idea for another 10 years. During this time I tried myself in different types of activity, but in the end, I returned to what I liked the most – embroidering. In 2003 I opened my own tailor shop and simultaneously went to study as a technologist in embroidering industry. In time I understood, it was not enough for me, I wanted to dress more people and create more models. In 2007 I launched women’s clothing line under the brand of KRISSTEL. The first released item was a dress with the aroma. Eventually it became the most popular model of the brand and a signature of KRISSTEL.

– What is your source of inspiration? Do you realize your ideas by yourself? Or someone helps you out?
– I like traveling and I try to go out at least a few times a year to seek new impressions. I watch how women in other countries behave and dress, what they are talking about, where they go, all this inspires me to create new collections. I alone design the clothing, I come up with and draw sketches, while the development and process of embroidering is the result of the work of my team that has been helping me to dress Ukrainian women in a stylish fashion for 11 years.
-What “to be realized as a designer” means to you? Some look at the sales, some at the promos. How do you see whether you are doing your job well?
– I’m very pleased to hear and read the reviews of the clients that choose KRISSTEL throughout the years, especially when this tradition goes from mother to daughter. I’m also very pleased to see my clothing chosen for shooting in various projects and publishing.
All this makes me want to move further and stimulates to create a new collection for women of different ages.
People like my clothing and it’s the marker that I’ve succeeded in becoming a true designer.

– Do you think it is possible todevelop good taste?
– Sure, good taste can be developed. It all depends on a person`s environment and what inspires that person. But the progress is very individual.
We are doing our part too to help women handle this by offering complete looks for the season considering all modern trends.

– Could you name a few things that adorn women? Let’s say, 5 accessories that are must-have for girls 🙂
– In my opinion, the top accessory a woman can get is her femininity and ability to show herself in the society. However, if you want to talk about accessories that add to the look, you need a good bag and a scarf, period.

– Svitlana, what mistakes did you make on your creative way that beginner-designers would be glad to avoid?
– The mistakes I possibly made built the way I have been walking all this time, so I have no regrets. The experience taught me a lot. My advice to all designers and really everyone who starts their own business is: don’t be afraid to experiment, ask for advice from professionals and most importantly – listen to your heart, it’s the best guide you’ve got.

Business, People

Dr. Frank-Jurgen Richter in an exclusive interview for TOPCITY magazine gloss

– Frank would you tell about Horasis, how you started it, how you got the idea, why it happened, what was the background of all of it and of course how it developed over the years?
– Right. I founded Horasis in 2005 in Geneva originally. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and as an entrepreneur, you know, you drive your own destiny, you take your own decisions. And uh, I was always employed before. So that it’s like the right time to be an entrepreneur. This was one reason. The second reason and maybe more importantly – I very much believe in dialogue and seeing, bringing people together to create trust between people and to create an element of an atmosphere that people can easily connect and conduct business. Certainly, I was contacted by the same confederation last year in China, Federation of Industrial Economics, our partner. They asked me to create something like Davos e-world Economic Forum where Chinese CEOs can meet once per year. And this was the origin of Horasis when we did our first Meeting. My background is I worked for the Davos. I’ve worked for the World Economic Forum as a director. And so basically, I left having the idea in mind the business model to create Horasis for the first seven-eight years Horasis was entirely focused on China. I speak Mandarin, I lived in China many years, and China I was very close to my heart. I felt the necessity for Chinese CEOs to have a platform where they can easily reach out to the global counterparts. Later on we added more meetings. The first meeting was held in Munich in 2009. In 2010 we started with an Arab Meeting and also is a Russia Meeting. And we do also a Global Meeting, which is the bold route. The Global Meeting is always based in Cascais in Portugal. We discovered that Ukraine would be a very good country to host meetings.

– And it will be first time in Ukraine, yes?
– First in Ukraine. So it’s our very first meeting, the one we held together with Dima and his friends as a partner here locally and with China Federation of Industrial Economics coming from the Chinese side, and we believe that Ukraine could play a more important role in the future where Horasis could contribute. So we have the plan to host also India Meeting, and we might even highlight Ukraine at our next Horasis Global Meeting, in Portugal, inviting members of government and doing some special receptions for Ukraine. So, in a nutshell, Horasis is a global platform for dialogue very much focusing on long-term issues. We describe ourselves as a vision community and we would like to give inspiration to the world bringing thinkers and doers together. Eighty percent of participants are business people, CEOs or founders, entrepreneurs; 20 percent – the rest are government, thought leadership co-professors, think-tanks, media, and also civil society, so it’s basically a business meeting, platform for business people to meet also other stakeholders and by rotating the Meeting we can always present different opportunities to the Chinese or to the Indians. They all want to discover the world. Last year’s China Meeting was held in the UK, the year before in Switzerland, the year before in Portugal, so we always rotate and I see that Ukraine is a country where you want to stay.
– The question from my side, what is the distinction from Davos?
– Right, of course Davos is, you know, the biggest meeting in the world, very successful founded in the early 70s. People compare us and we are the run-up to Davos, we are like a new Davos, focusing on the merchant markets – that’s our strengths, that’s our USP, we are maybe a bit like Davos 20 years ago, mostly focusing on business issues, issues relevant to business and much going into politics. Davos today is mostly political meeting there are around 40 head of states attending and everybody is trying to grab for the headline in the Financial Times or New York Times and the spirit of… the original spirit of Davos is, I guess, no longer there when people still meet at a fireplace and with long discussions a bit like we spend our meeting when people will need the whole day and a late night and go to bars together at the end, continue and becoming friends. So we are less political, more based on the individuals, more based on business. Of course, we are smaller but I think we are in the same way also influential in the countries we operate. So our China and India Meeting compared to the Davos are counterparts, I think we are on the same level and um, we are a growing organization, we’re based in Switzerland but we have operations all around the world. And of course we have Horasis Ukraine.
– If there were any specific targets or goals you set prior to the bringing Horasis in Ukraine? And do you think that you actually achieved, accomplished those goals?
– Right. One main goal was to put Ukraine on the map, on the map of Chinese investors, but also of global investors. Ukraine actually is much better than some people seeing the country, you know, doing, behaving and showing to the outside world. So as many good things happening here: the investment climate is improving. And so Horasis is a platform to make this happen. The Chinese got the new concept of the One Belt One Road – the Silk Road, connecting China with Europe Ukraine is in a very strategic position in between. If you think about Odesa on the Black sea as a shipping, Kyiv as the capital, as a transportation hub. This is openness to Europe. Ukraine has some advantages: one – very talented qualified people, especially in the area of IT of anything creative – Ukraine is famous for that, and I think investors are using this potential of Ukraine and we’ve had several sessions at our summit, we’ve been talked about competitiveness of Ukraine, we talked about China innovation projects between China – Ukraine. Even of Chinese people track. And the fact of having the meeting here was already a success of doing it and highlighting the chances of Ukraine. On the operational side the Meeting went very smooth. It’s been around… which number should we say? 350 participants, mostly CEOs of important companies; to name a few we had the CEO of Sinotrans which is the largest logistics company in China. We’ve got the CEO, the vice chairman of Beijing Automotive, the chairman of FREEMAX TV, the largest media company but also lot of people in modern industries, IT, venture capital and private equity. And I think they are here to stay and want to put some operations.

– What is the meaning of Horasis?
Horasis is ancient Greek, it means visions, so long-term visions because we are visions community and we would like to inspire the future. We always say if all participants come back with this one single idea of the Meeting which is transformative, which will transform their life and their business then we lived up to our promises because you know we are generating ideas, we are like a festival of ideas with a pure business dimension, but also very much knowledge dimension. In a non-academic sense we can talk about real-life examples about, you know, experiences about success but also failures, about new technologies. We had fascinating sessions on e-commerce and on blockchain technologies, so people always say Horasis is like an executive e-MBA in one day time.

– Is there an expectation from your side that what Horasis did to Ukraine and China is actually founded a solid basement for further fruitful corporation?
– Yes-yes. I strongly believe so. And that is a China saying that, you know, every journey starts with the first step and when we go to a new place we have not been before it’s like a terra incognito, so unknown land. The government is very interested. We had follow-up discussions with the SFII, this is State Financial Institution for Innovations and as we heard that the Ministry of Economy is watching what we’re doing and seeing it’s something very useful to the government. We very much believe in private-public partnerships. Where government and the private sector can work together because one sector alone can’t hardly do it. Government needs support from society, from business. Businesses society needs support from government and the fact that we are a foreign organization actually is a big advantage. So we don’t know too much about, let’s say the local politics, we stay out of it. We are a Swiss organization. We are neutral. We just want to work for country, and we are not looking into let’s say differences of parties and things, but you know, we want to help the country like Ukraine, Ukraine has to open up, has to show its potential to the outside world. And it could definitely count on Horasis as a trusted partner.

Yulia Zorii, a charming host of the Ukrainian show “Morning in the Big City” on ICTV told TOPCITY magazine in an exclusive interview how she launched a career on the television and how she manages to be so brilliant even so early in the morning

– Yulia, how did you become a TV-host? Was it your childhood dream?
– I dreamed of becoming an actress. I always needed a viewer. I sang songs in crowded buses on the way to kindergarten, embarrassing my parents along the way. I held all parties and concerts at school, I attended a theatrical coterie, and the TV-host work has something in common with all of that. Somebody always watches you one way or another.
– What channels were you on before becoming a TV-host on ICTV?
– After I moved out from hometown to Kyiv, I worked on “Ukraina” in the morning show “Morning with Ukraine”, then on “Era”, also in the morning show “Good morning, Ukraine!”, then I moved to ICTV. Basically, the morning has been following me for more than 5 years (laughs). Even though, I am a night person.

– What qualities do you need to become a good journalist?
– I believe that a good journalist should read a lot and learn new information and knowledge every minute. A journalist should be interested in the situation in the world. A journalist should be very objective and unbiased, although with a personal view on the subject matter.
– What literature do you prefer? What is your favorite book?
– I have many favorite books. My book of books in fictions is “The Little Prince”, I know it by heart and I can re-read it anytime from any place. Also,Ilovepsychologybooks. I’m fond of stories of famous psychotherapists about their work with certain examples from the work. Problems described in these books are natural for all people: the pain of loss, an inevitability of aging and eventual death, the sorrow of rejected love, fear of freedom and etc. Often this knowledge helps me in my everyday life and communication with different people.

– When and how does your morning begin?
– I wake up at 4 in the morning. A glass of warm water with lemon and I’m good to go.
– A few years ago you finished the course of acting skills. How did this idea appear?
– Well, since the idea of becoming an actor latched on me pretty heavily, I decided to try the course. I entered National I. K. Karpenko-Karyi Theatre, Cinema and Television University in 2002, I believe (smiles). But I studied to become a political scientist and I wouldn’t abandon the study, so I decided to start a theatrical study later.

– How is your acting career? Do you have any successes already?
– I’m starring in a few Ukrainian TV-series, I play on stage at private theatrical concern “Crazy day” with famous actors and CFI participants.
– “Diesel show” has a large audience. I’m curious, after you played in one of the concert stages, did your popularity increase?
– Ohyeah (laughs). Especiallyon Instagram. People from different countries and cities wrote me and tagged on the video of our play. It’sacoolexperience. Firstofall, Ijustlove “Dieselshow”. They are the number one among the humoristic programs for me. Second of all, it was an honor and great pleasure to work with them on one stage. They are great actors and I learned a lot from them. And third of all, two sold-out concerts in Palats “Ukraina” is a no small feat (smiles).
– Yulia, can you share your secrets to beauty?
– Therearenone. YoucansaytherearehabitsI’mtryingtofollow. Sleep is a huge part of beauty and health, considering my early morning schedule I try to suffice for the lack later. 2-3 hours of sleep in the noon. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, and 1-2 times I go to massages. My weekends are dedicated to the hair and face – that includes various masks and care that I don’t have time for on broadcast days.
– How do you spend your free time? Do you have any hobbies?
– I used to ride a horse, but after I fall one time I decided to take a break and gather my strength to continue. I also love to read and embroiderin my free time, it calms my nerves.
– What would you like to wish yourself and our readers in the New Year?
– Let 2019 become a year of surprising discoveries and bright beginnings for you. I wish you tons of smiles, inspiration and cheerful start of the day!

Versace success story

Walk and ye shall reach. Following this biblical truth, the famous fashion designer Gianni Versace has come a long way from the very bottom to a stunning success. This article will tell you how he did it.
Start out small.
It was 2 December 1946. It was then that a boy named Gianni was born in the poor Italian family of Versace.
From an early age, the child craved attention deprived to him. Perhaps this is what inspired him to be constantly on guard and try to establish himself in every possible way.
To be a little closer to his mother, Gianni joined her at her work. Francesca Versace dedicated her whole life to sewing and spent a lot of time in the studio, where she took her son with her. Gianni used to recall that he
had always been surrounded by dresses sewn by his mother. He considered this as the rst sign of his future success in the fashion industry.
Watching Francesca work, her son learned the basics of tailoring: the boy got a grasp of fabrics and accessories, developed the subtle taste, as well as mastered the art of sketching. Once nine-year-old Gianni returned from school with an angry note from the headmaster, «You should pay more attention to your son’s upbring
ing. You have a real sexual deviant!». The headmaster got this idea from sketches the boy was drawing non-stop throughout lessons and breaks.
On paper, the silhouettes of Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida with their tempting curves were dressed up
in beautiful evening dresses created by Gianni’s imagination.
But when it comes to the future designer’s development, nothing could come close to taking measure ments that his mother did for her clients. Once Gianni saw Francesca wrapping a charming woman in а beautiful fabric. It left such a lasting impression, that  he placed almost the greatest focus on the tting-up process in the future.

Despite the visible talent of their son, however, his parents predicted him a career in architecture. It inuenced his choice when Gianni applied to the university.
What will be, shall be.
However, what is meant to be is meant to be. Gianni’s mother, ardent supporter of him becoming an architect, demanded that he left the university. Left alone with the orders of customers, she could not cope with the work and needed help.
So eighteen-year-old Gianni once again became a tailor. Diving back into the familiar provincial world of dress-making, he kept up global trends while visiting fashion shows in Paris, London, and Rome.
Persistent and high-quality work made Gianni famous outside his home town. In 1970, a wealthy business
man oered him an opportunity to conquer Milan. Young Versace did not doubt for a minute that he will achieve his goals in the city of dreams.
Gianni cooperated with prestigious fashion houses such as Vallentino, Genny, etc. But the images of wealth and  aught, the aspiring designer started to bring all his memories to life. Catwalk was ooded with skimpy narrow skirts, deep neckline and all-time high heels.

Openness and boldness became the key to the success of Versace House. The great Armani once said, commenting on the next show, that Gianni turned fashion into a real pornographic show.
However, Versace shrugged o all the criticism, and in 1978, he released his brilliant collection of evening
dresses that made him famous all over the world. And in 1982, the designer decided to literally dazzle his fans. All the dresses from his new collection were decorated with sparkling sequins.
The eect was simply stunning. And all of this was thanks to Gianni’s love for experiments. He was never afraid to create something new, combining “fragile” silk with metal inserts, and genuine leather with faux fur.
If you’ve got it, flaunt it!
Then came universal recognition, huge prots and admiration of millions. The list of fans and clients of
Versace added such well-known names as Princess Diana, Madonna, Sting, Elton John.
Gianni sometimes made friends with them in rather original ways. For example, once he showered Sylvester Stallone and Claudia Schier’s home with all sorts of gifts: fabrics, pillows, dishes. In return, the celebrities agreed to be photographed for fashion magazines naked, covering themselves only with dishes depicting the main symbol of Versace, the Medusa Head.
Realizing his greatness in the fashion world, Versace would often go on a splurge. He bought expensive houses, luxury cars and threw wild parties through the night. At these parties, Gianni met his two love interests, who, like the designer himself, were gay. And if Antonio D’Amico was ocially recognized as Versace’s signicant other, Andrew Cunanan remained in the shadows. This led him to a decision to murder Gianni.
On 15 July 1997, Cunanan shot Versace.
After the death of the legendary fashion designer, his business was inherited by his younger sister. Donatella
took the helm and has been doing great to this day. The Versace network is actively developing, attracting an
increasing number of fans, including Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as the Beckham family.
At the same time, the whole world is waiting for new designs from a well-known brand, for unique and special looks. Let them come with boldness and abandon.

11 Secrets of Success from Bill Gates

William Henry Gates a.k.a. Bill Gates (born 28 October 1955) is an American businessman, the head of the Microsoft corporation, and the richest man on the planet for several years.

  1. Life is not fair; get used to it.
  1. The world won’t care about your SELF-ESTEEM. The world will expect you to ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING beforehand.
  1. You will NOT make USD 60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice president with a personal driver until you earn both.
  1. If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
  1. Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping; they called it opportunity.
  1. If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, LEARN from them. Change your attitude to failure.
  1. Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as you think they are now. Maybe it was because of the constant care of you they got that way? They pay your bills, buy your clothes and always listen to you talk about how cool you are. So before you criticize your parents’ generation, start with yourself.
  1. Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades; they’ll give you AS MANY TIMES as you want to get the RIGHT answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
  1. Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summer off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
  1. Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
  1. Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

  1. Bill Gates is the richest man on the planet.
  2. Bill Gates went to the most privileged school in Seattle, where he was able to develop his programming skills on a school mini-computer.
  3. His great-grandfather was a legislator and mayor, grandfather was vice president of the State Bank in his state, and his father was a successful lawyer.
  4. At school, Gates did not succeed in grammar, civics and other subjects which he considered trivial, but he got higher marks in maths.
  5. By the tenth grade, Bill no longer studied computer science, but taught it. That was also when he created a program for teaching his class. This program also had a secret purpose. It chose classes with the “cool girls” for its creator.
  6. He was 15 years old when he wrote a program to regulate traffic and earned USD 20,000 for this project. And when he was 17, he received a proposal to write a software package for the power distribution of the Bonneville Dam.
  7. For the rest of his life, if Gates did compromise, it was on the precondition that “I’ll be the boss.”
  8. In 1973, Gates enrolled at Harvard University, but was expelled after 2 years, since he was already heavily engaged in the software development.
  9. The first five customers of Microsoft went bankrupt, but the guys did not despair and returned to Seattle in 1979. Bill Gates was expelled from the university for truancy and academical failure, but this fact did not bother this failed student much, as he received an offer from IBM to create an operating system for the world’s first personal computer.
  10. Bill Gates purchased QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) for USD 50,000, changed the name to MS-DOS and sold the license to IBM. This money allowed Microsoft to work for several years. The presentation of the new IBM computer with Microsoft software caused a real sensation in the market. Many companies contacted Microsoft for a license.
  11. In 1986, Microsoft became an open joint-stock company. In the same year, Bill Gates became a billionaire at the age of 31.
  12. On 15 June 2008, Bill Gates announced his intention to resign from the position of Microsoft Chairman of the Board of Directors as of July 2008. After his resignation, he intends to focus entirely on the management of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
  13. As for his religious views, Gates is most likely an agnostic. When the reporter of the Times asked if he believes in God, Bill Gates replied that he had no evidence of his existence.
  14. Bill’s wife Melinda Gates is one of the most influential women in the world. In 2012, Melinda openly challenged the Vatican and vowed to devote her life to creating affordable contraceptive methods for women in the world’s poorest countries. The Gates Foundation is ready to invest USD 140 million annually in this project.

Turkish Chef NusretGökçe Putting on Gloves

It is not enough to be able to do something well, you also need to learn how to properly present the results. NusretGökçe, world-famous professional butcher, chef and restaurateur from Turkey, knows it all too well.Snimok-ekrana-2018-02-22-v-15.35.35

A year ago, a culinary video went viral and won over many lovers of good food and skilled memes. In the video, the chef shows the process of making an Ottoman Steak. The highlight of the video was the Nusret’s skill to sprinkle the dish with salt over his elbow. This trick earned the chef a name Salt Bae on social media and YouTube.

Gökçe’s road to success was rather bumpy. He was born in 1983 in the Turkish town of Paşali. He grew up in poverty, and did not even have the opportunity to get a decent school education: it consisted only of primary school. So now Gökçe is working hard to give a happy childhood to his nine children.

From the age of 14, Nusret had to work. As fate would have it, the boy became an assistant to a butcher. Perhaps this is what determined his future.

At the age of 27, Gökçe, having saved enough money, opened his first restaurant in Istanbul. Today he owns eight steakhouses and four burger restaurants. You can find them in Turkey, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Miami under the brand Nusr-Et. Obviously, it is named after the restaurateur, whose name translates as “with God’s help.” The hyphen is there for the wordplay: it separates Et, which sounds like “lamb” in Turkish.

Gökçe is not going to become complacent and continues to expand his geography. In January 2018, another restaurant under the well-known brand was opened in New York. But, unfortunately, it was not met with a standing ovation and eulogies. Critics attacked the food prepared by Nusret right away. According to them, it is rather mediocre, which does not justify sky-high prices. Steve Kuozzo from the New York Post compared the chef’s famous steak to boot leather and noted that his USD 130 were wasted.

This was not the end of Gökçe’s troubles and negative adventures in the city of contrasts. Fussy Americans rebelled against the way the food was cooked. Everyone suddenly remembered about the hygiene rules, and called out for Nusret to observe them. Critics noticed bare hands of Nusr Et workers, as well as the jewellery on the chef himself during cooking (in this case, we are talking about the gold watch).

Gökçe responded to all the comments rather professionally. The day after the accusations in the media, he went to demonstrate his crown “salty” trick in black gloves. Although, salt was sprinkled on the steak over the same bare elbow.

Despite the negative reviews, public does not lose interest in Nusret’s restaurants. Their patrons include even the world-famous celebrities.

Recently, the establishment of the Turkish chef in Dubai was visited by Leonardo DiCaprio. And, oddly enough, the famous American actor was not at all afraid of the so-called unhygienic conditions, decided to see the famous Gökçe’s trick, and even tried an advertised steak.

Nusret’s talent has also been supported by Rihanna. During one of her concerts, the artist appeared on the stage wearing a T-shirt that said Salt Bae.

Admirers of the acting skills of the chef also include TV hosts and athletes. His gesture of “salting” was adopted by celebrities and was seen by many football fans as well as viewers of TV shows hosted by James Corden.

By the way, fate has long sent Gokche signs about possible problems with doing business in the US. When the chef was still trying to adapt to the future work in America, he made a number of reconnaissance trips there. Nusret was welcomed in Argentina, which cannot be said about the States themselves. Gökçe was repeatedly denied visa and was able to visit only over the three-month tourist period.

So this is the business journey of the chef, who has made his name thanks to social media. We hope that soon all Gökçe’s American troubles will be left behind and he will again become a Salt Bae of each patron of his restaurants.

Channing Tatum broke up with his girlfriend

Channing Tatum, Hollywood celebrity and A-lister, once again made the hearts of his fans beat faster. On April 3, he made his divorce public on Twitter. A similar statement was made in social media by his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum as well.

Since the couple did not explain the exact reason for the split, the press immediately rushed to investigate. Possible reasons included Channing’s alcohol abuse, as well as different priorities in the life of spouses, where the husband was focused on a career, and the wife was more of a home keeper.

In turn, the Tatum family denied such allegations of reporters and celebrity-hunters. Channing and Jenna addressed their fans online together, stating that they still love each other and have no disagreements at all. It’s just time for both of them to go their separate ways.

It is worth noting that the couple spent nine years together. They met while filming the cult youth film Step Up released in 2006. Channing and Jenna had starring roles in the film and translated their feelings from the set to reality after that.

The couple married on 11 July 2009 in Malibu. And already in 2013, they had an addition to the family, their daughter Everly Elizabeth Maiselle.
